The capital city of Lunada got a chance to hear rapper Nicki Minaj sing despite protests from critics calling for her concert to be cancelled. The sexy singer performed to a full house Saturday in the impoverished country of Angola, a report from Daily Mail said.
The 33-year-old singer performed at a Christmas party by the Unitel communications firm, which was partly-owned by the family of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos. The 73-year-old ruler has been accused of corruption, misrule and intimidation in the country of Angola. The country suffers from extreme poverty despite being the second-largest oil producer in the continent. It was also estimated by the United Nations Development Programme that more than a third of Angola's population live below the poverty line and around 70 percent of the country live on less than $2 a day.
Activists protested Minaj's concert and asked her to cancel her performance saying that she is endorsing the authoritarian rule of President dos Santos. Since the president came into power in 1979, he has allegedly amassed huge amounts of money in assets by taking control of a number of companies as well as industries in his nation. And since it was illegal for the president to have financial power in companies and industries, Dos Santos is said to be making arrangements for his daughter to receive his properties.
On the other hand, the Grammy nominated singer was paid $2 million for her performance. The crowd loved her and even chanted her name after her show was over. Nicki took to social media the crowd's appreciation for her performance. In her Instagram account, she shared two videos with a caption "Angola has my heart."
She also shared a few photos of her in a seductive pose wearing a black see-through jumpsuit with embellishments covering her private parts before the event. These shots were captioned "Oh hai, Angola. Ready for the show?"
Another photo was with the daughter of the Angolan dictator with captions, "Oh no big deal... she's just the 8th richest woman in the world" and "GIRL POWER!!!!! This motivates me soooooooooo much!!!! S/O to any woman on a paper chase. Get your own!!!! Success is yours for the taking!!!!! #Angola thank u to the women who brought me out here as well."
