Social media giant Facebook has rolled out a new update for its messaging app, Messenger. It was said that the new update brings new several features which allow users to change colors, use their favorite emoji, change nicknames, and tag friends in photo, among others, a report from iDigital Times said.
According to the report, one of the new features rolled out to Facebook Messenger is the ability to pair the app with Uber as a new transportation platform. Using the Messenger, users will be able to request for a transportation service.
"Today, we're expanding the services available to you with our launch of transportation on Messenger. With this new feature, you can request a ride from a car service without ever needing to download an extra app or leave a conversation. It's super easy and doesn't take you away from the plans that you're making with your friends or family. Whether you're meeting friends for lunch, on your way to a concert, or running late for work, Messenger and our partners can get you to your destination faster," said Seth Rosenberg, Facebook Product Manager, said in a press release.
Tech Times also reports that Facebook has also rolled out the biggest feature to the Messenger app, which is the Photo Magic. The company said that the new feature is now live in the app, and it works by searching "familiar faces in photos and will automatically tag the ones it recognizes."
"Other new features in this update included being able to set nicknames, changing the color of a conversation (anything that is normally blue) and choosing a favorite emoji (what is normally the thumbs up or Like button). You can make the favorite emoji balloon up similar to how the default Like button does. To access any of these new features, simply go to a conversation in Facebook Messenger and click on either the group name or the other person's name before tapping into the Nicknames, Color and Emoji menu options," the report said.
