Mobile wireless carrier Sprint has announced on Monday that the company's selected LG G4 devices will be receiving a major software update this week. The company has posted in its official website the software update for the aforementioned device, a report from iDigital Times said.
According to the report, Sprint's LG G4 devices will be upgraded to Google's latest mobile operating system, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It was said that the update will be sent via OTA or over-the-air, which means that users will be able to access the update wirelessly.
"As a full update from Android Lollipop to Android Marshmallow, LG G4 is getting such feature as Now on Tap, which provides contextual details to what they are accessing on their device; Doze mode, which allows handsets to go into a deep sleep mode when not being used to further extend battery life; the Android Pay system; Direct Share, which allows users easily share media with their favorite contacts; and Flex Storage, which encrypts applications and data, making them apart of the device rather than a micro SD card. Sprint has also added is global roaming feature to the update," the report said.
Users will receive a prompt that their devices are ready to be updated once the OS has arrived. To ensure that the software will reach their devices, users should tweak the settings on their devices by accessing Settings > About phone > Software update to check whether an update is already available, Tech Times reported.
"The Sprint LG G4 system build or exact system version is called LS991ZV9, which will take the device from Android 5.1.1 to Android 6.0. This is the device's first system update since launching in April. The LG G4 first began updating to Android 6.0 in Poland, in October," iDigital Times said.
