Real Estate Expensive Property Update: Embattled Montauk Beach Resort Next Door to Panoramic View Sells for $70M

The tormented Montauk beach resort, the property next door to Panoramic View, has been sold for $70 million. The majority investors of the Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa closed the deal on Dec. 7.

The oceanfront property is next to the beach home of Robert De Niro.

According to the report of the New York Post news, the property was purchased by Panoramic Partners, an affiliate of Lloyd Goldman's BLDG Management and George Filopoulos' Metrovest. It was owned and renovated by the Gurney's since 2013. Right now, the property is the only seawater spa in North America that has an oceanfront ice-skating rink on the roof.

The sales transaction with the Montauk beach resort includes three oceanfront beach cottages and 12 townhomes, as well as 50 hotel rooms.

Brian Callahan, a New York investment adviser and his brother-in-law, real estate developer Adam Manson, were indicted by federal procedures in 2013, and both pleaded guilty last year to securities fraud and wire fraud.

As co-owner of the resort, Callahan assured investors that their money would be invested in hedge funds, mutual funds and other securities, but he squandered off $96 million and diverted some of it to Panoramic View.

Beautifully nestled on Montauk's pristine oceanfront area, the five-star Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is the only four-season resort in Montauk. The resort provides guests direct access to a 1,000-ft. private sand beach, while the hotel features 109 rooms, suites and beachfront cottages, each offering fascinating ocean views, as reported by Trivago news.

Guests can have the chance to enjoy a wide range of dining options in five unique dining and cocktail venues, from delectable cuisine to casual favorites.

A wonderful stay in the resort is not complete without visiting The Seawater Spa that has great features of a fitness center, Roman baths, Finnish rock saunas, world-famous indoor/outdoor sand-filtered red, ocean-fed, and heated seawater pool.

This is the only spa in the continental United States that offers customized Thalasso therapies, extracting the healing elements and restorative properties of the sea.
