In the first part of "Scandal" Season 5, Jeff Perry's character came back to the White House, and after the show goes on a break, Cyrus Beene will be more dangerous than ever.
According to Christian Post, Cyrus will be targeting Portia de Rossi's character Elizabeth now that he is working for President Grant (Tony Goldwyn) again. Many sources speculate that Cyrus is planning to get Elizabeth out of the White House once and for all after the President turned down his condition that he will only go back to the White House once Elizabeth is gone. It seems like Cyrus is still threatened by Elizabeth's presence, considering that he was removed from his post before.
Aside from that, it was reported that fans are hoping that Cyrus will rekindle his relationship with Kerry Washington's Olivia Pope in the second part of the season. The two were good friends in the beginning of the show, but because of conflict of interests, the two ended on bad terms in Season 4.
It is expected that in the second part of Season 5, Cyrus will rekindle his relationship not only with Olivia but will also try to gain the trust of the President again.
Meanwhile, MNR Daily reports that there are speculations that Cyrus might be running for president instead of supporting Fitz's reelection. In the previous episode, Cyrus resented being the Chief of Staff and thinks that he is more than just the right-hand man. Many sources speculate that Fitz should still be wary of Cyrus' loyalty because he still feels bitter when the former replaced him as Chief of Staff.
Considering that he was one of the masterminds who manipulated the election results in favor of Fitz, will Cyrus use his power to run against his longtime friend?
Fans will have to wait for the answers when "Scandal" Season 5 returns on ABC on Feb. 11, 2016.
