After the box-office hit of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" which made a serious whopping number over its last week's release, another hit somewhat related to "Star Wars" is making its comeback. The 1987 spoof comedy film "Spaceballs" is already reported on the works for its upcoming sequel.
The 1987 movie parody "Spaceballs" had in great lengths followed the rounds of "Star Wars" in a comedic way and now Inquisitr reports that the movie's director Mel Brooks is confirmed to start filming the sequel of "Spaceballs" in 2016.
"The Nerdist reported the news on Adam Corolla's podcast, Take A Knee. It was there that it was confirmed by Brooks that a sequel is underway. It's in the "early phases of development," according to the outlet. "It's tentatively entitled, Spaceballs: The Search For More Money which was a title already mentioned by Yogurt, played by Brooks, in the original film as he was browsing through the many pieces of merchandising products."
Apart from this exciting development plotted in 2016, a poster was even made with a "Spaceballs" feel inspired from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The artist Joshua Budich created this spoof version of the poster entitled "Spaceballs: The Schwartz Awakens."
Meanwhile, Director Mel Brooks also wants to bring back the old actors who played the roles for the film. On his slate is Daphne Zuniga who played Princess Vespa and Rick Moranis' Lord Dark Helmet, although there are no confirmations yet on whether Moranis will portray the role again but hopefully, the actor will reprise his role on the sequel.
"I'm thinking now, if I did a movie that came out right after Star Wars comes out - maybe a couple of months later - I'd have a big weekend, you know, No matter what, even if it fell on its ass and didn't get its money back ... but that first weekend, the anticipation of seeing 'Spaceballs 2' ... I still have Daphne Zuniga and I still have Rick Moranis if he'd do it, and I've still got me," Brooks said based from Tech Times.
