During the first season of "Ballers," everything went smoothly. Basically, despite being "Entourage With Football," it launched to 8.9 million fans, and based on the report of HBO, has the most-anticipated debut of a 30-minute series in five years. It was extended to season two even before the first season was done. In the middle of it is the actor Dwayne Johnson and actual NFL logos and uniforms were borrowed to boost the show credibility, it looked as though it would be a flawless second season.
The series have hit real big time, on the other hand, writers Sherri Littleton and Everette Sila have filed a case against executive producer Dwayne Johnson, Creator and Executive producer Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, another executive producer, in federal court saying that HBO robbed the idea from them. They are demanding for undetailed compensatory, special and punitive damages.
"Off Season," is the project created by Silas and Littleton, which they said has many similarities with "Ballers," like the off-field antics and the Miami setting, including professional football gamers. They also say that the HBO series producers had direct contact to their script because they almost closed a deal with them to produce their idea as a feature project starring both Johnson and Wahlberg between 2008 and 2009. Based on the complaints, they were asked to their credits off the project and they declined which ended the supposed deal.
"We are confident the case has no merit," according to the statements of HBO.
It is always safe to say what impact a lawsuit could do on a current TV Series. There are always two sides of the story, other sides come to end and settle the deal and in some occurrences it changes or ends future projects. Who is telling the truth? Let us know by leaving your comments below.
