Who wouldn’t want to live in a castle or better yet a castle with murals made by Picasso himself?
According to the LA Times, a castle located in the south of France is for sale for about $9.6 million U.S. dollars. The castle, known as Chateau de Castille, rests near Uzes in Provence, is previously owned by art collector and scholar, Douglas Cooper.
Back in 1960s, Picasso installed engraved concrete panels into a room that is previously a billiard room. These pieces are unfortunately unable to be detached because the place is very historic, but if it did, it’s worth millions if you sell them.
The castle was built back in the 13th century but went into a makeover by Baron de Castille in the 18th century when he got inspired when he went on a grand tour in Italy.
The five acre property hosts numerous columns, geometric walkways, and stone ornaments inspired by the Italian design. With seven bedrooms, you’ll never run out of space in this place.
The place also hosts two drawing rooms, your very own library, and two kitchens. This sounds like a place where large gatherings can take place. You can go to the property by going to a tree-lined drive that leads you to it. Such a majestic place.
At 8,000 square feet, this place is decorated by world renowned American interior designer Dick Dumas.
Pablo Picasso is a Spanish painter and sculptor that is known as one of the greatest and most influential artists in the 20th century. Most of his works are worth millions today. His most expensive painting, “Women of Algiers," was sold for $179.3 million U.S. dollars when it was sold in New York in May 2015. Another one of his painting, “Nude, Green Leaves and Bust” was sold for $106.5 million U.S. dollars back in 2010.
