In the last week of September, actor George Clooney tied the knot for the second time with British lawyer Amal Alamuddin amid much fanfare. But instead of heading to a fancy destination for their honeymoon, the newlyweds decided to stay at their new mansion in the British countryside.
Clooney purchased the mansion for Alamuddin when they were engaged. The pre-wedding present seems to have become their two-week honeymoon location.
Us Weekly broke news of the couple spending their two-week vacation time in complete isolation at the mansion citing insider sources.
"They wanted a simple break. Just somewhere to enjoy time together with no interruptions," the source told the magazine.
"It's just George and Amal at the house at the moment," the source said adding that Alamuddin's family hasn't even visited them there yet. The couple haven't hired their live-in chef yet so "a small private catering company delivers their meals every day," the source added.
Us Weekly reports that the mansion is "luxurious, well decorated and super-private" and is also located close to the train station from where she can commute to office when their honeymoon is over.
A previous report in Hello! Magazine claimed that the couple was honeymooning at an exclusive resort in the Seychelles - the same island where Prince William and Kate Middleton honeymooned in 2011.
Honeymoon or not, sources told E!Online that the couple is overjoyed at their new house and Alamuddin has taken full charge of decorating the place.
"... (the couple is) really excited about beginning their new life together there as a married couple," a source told E! News.
"George seems to have let Amal take care of decorating the new house in London. She has impeccable taste which is very similar to his. It's lovely for them to have a completely new place to move into as a married couple," the source added.
Clooney and Alamuddin said their vows in a paparazzi-free grand ceremony in Venice, Italy, in front of close friends and family. Check out some photos of their wedding weekend here.
