'Oculus Rift' News, Release Date, Specs: 'Oculus Rift' Now A Finished Product, But Access Is Still Limited To Game Developers

The famous Oculus Rift may have gone through several series of developments over the past years, but the VR company has now announced that it has already started shipping the final headset hardware. However, Oculus is only shipping the Rift to developers. That said, if you aren't a virtual reality game developer, you may still need to wait more before you experience the Oculus Rift. Don't worry though as it may not be too long before that happens, according to reports it should be somewhere within the early parts of next year.

Still, this shall be good news. The fact that everything has been completed means that Oculus is now nearer than ever to releasing the VR headset to its fans. Also, the Facebook owned company said that Rift SDK 1.0 version is available for developers to download, specifically the "developers putting the final touches on launch titles". This brings in higher possibility to get a bunch of titles prepared for playing when the Oculus Rift finally arrives next year.

For those in the game development industry, Oculus has a submission tool for you to use so you can access the new hardware. Take note that there is also an approval process and only Rift games developers preparing for the launch will be approved. For everyone else, you are gonna have to ride it out with your DK2 units that run the 0.8 SDK, the combo that the company said to still be the proper platform for this early Rift development.

Should CES be the event that will elaborate further on the Oculus Rift? It's hard to say, but we are hopeful that it is. It's just a few weeks away and fans sure do hope that they at least get a little more info about the VR device. CES 2016 is happening in Las Vegas on January 6 - 9 with a pre show on January 4 - 5. Let's just wait and hope if we get a better glimpse on the Oculus Rift.
