Although the "Surface Pro 4" and the "Surface Book" did receive so much excitement from the people when it was first introduced, it's safe to say that despite its very innovative features, it also isn't perfect, although, there really is no such thing as a perfect gadget, hence the constant updates.
The "Surface Pro 4" and the "Surface Book" are still two of the most ambitious creations made in the tech industry and the company aims to address each of the issues that their devices initially came with. Microsoft recently rolled out the update that will resolve issues related to the devices' keyboards.
Called the 'Surface Pro 4 Firmware Update v1.0.420.0', this update should enhance the device's stability with its Type Cover. 'Surface Base Firmware Update v.1.1.421.0' on the other hand should improve the touchpad and keyboard experience for the users of the "Microsoft Surface Book".
These updates are rolling out in stages and it is possible that Windows 10 may not have told you about these yet, so just go over to the Windows Update section and you should find the "System Firmware/Hardware Update - 12/17/2015" update.
"Surface Pro 4" and "Surface Book" Keyboard Issues
According to the users in a Reddit thread, the popular 2 in 1 device experiences a constant Type cover issue that causes the system to boot slower. There are also trackpad crashes when the users wake the device up from sleep. The screen also flickers when lowering the brightness settings.
Fortunately after the update, many users reported the good difference that they experienced. It was said that their devices already booted faster even with the keyboard attached after they installed the update. Two fingered scrolling in the trackpad also became smoother.
Microsoft did acknowledge the issue not just by providing an update but also by initially apologizing for it as well. The company apologized for the early buyers of the "Surface Pro 4" and the "Surface Book" who had to deal with the minor and major problems the devices came with.
