Social media giant Facebook has rolled out a new update for its Facebook app in iOS. The recent update called "Live Photos" now supports the moving images specifically for Apple's latest smartphones, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, a report from Tech Times said.
According to the report, Facebook's Live Photos will be available in several platforms like Android, desktop users. However, it was noted that for Apple, the said feature will only be available in iOS 9.
"Facebook app users with iOS can now post a Live Photo by uploading a photo the same way as they previously would, while making sure to click on the circle icon located on the lower right corner of the photo and tap again to select Live. The photo will then display on the News Feed as a static image, and other iOS users (using devices with iOS 9) will be able to press on the photo to see the image move. Apple's Live Photos feature captures a 12 megapixel still image, along with a second and a half before or after the image is taken, which is put together to animate the image, similarly to a GIF when viewing," the report said.
Aside from this, Facebook's Live Photos will also be rolled out to a select group of users. Hopefully, it will be available next year for iPhone 6S users.
"Even though Live Photos debuted with the iPhone 6s back in September, it's taken third-party apps a few months to fully integrate them into their services. A few weeks ago, Tumblr became the first photo-sharing app to offer support for Live Photos. Now that Facebook has jumped into the fray, we suspect that support for Live Photos should be arriving shortly to other Facebook apps like Facebook Messenger and Instagram. And while social apps seem to be eager to integrate Live Photos, photo-storing services like Dropbox and Google Photos are still lagging behind," Macworld said.
