'Star Trek: Beyond' News & Release Date: Writer & Director Promise Fans Movie Will Return To Original Theme, Will Not Dig Deeper Into Capt. Kirk & Carol's Relationship

After some critics revealed that they were disappointed with the previous "Star Trek" movie, the production made a deal with Simon Pegg and Justin Lin to make "Star Trek Beyond" better.

According to Movie Pilot, Pegg and Lin are both "Star Trek" fans, and they have assured other followers that unlike J.J. Abrams' version, "Star Trek Beyond" will "return to the spirit" of the original franchise. The first trailer for the movie boasts impressive visual effects and also some intense action scenes. The trailer also shows an adventurous outer space travel and intriguing plot twists.

Christian Post reports that Pegg and Lin plan to veer away from "Star Trek Into The Darkness," and fans can expect that they will ignore the film in order for the new movie to move forward on its own. In an earlier interview with Lin, he stated that Pegg, along with his co-writer Doug Jung, have spent significant time writing a new story for the upcoming movie. He added that despite "Star Trek Beyond" moving far away from the previous film, he is still appreciative of what Abrams did.

"Star Trek Into The Darkness" introduced many aspects which will reportedly not be brought forward to the new film, like the idea of Khan blood and interstellar beaming. It was also said that the previous film objectified Alice Eve's character, Carol Marcus.

Lin confirmed that the new movie will no longer delve deeper into the relationship between Captain Kirk and Carol Marus. He said that the two characters' relationship will be the way it was before. He explained that the new movie will be a continuation instead and it is appropriate for the two and a half years after the events that happened in the first film.

"Star Trek Beyond" will premiere in July 2016.
