'Gambit' Movie Update: Execs May Tap 'Iron Man 3,' 'Attack The Block' Directors For The Adaptation

More directors are in the running to take on the movie adaptation of 'Gambit,' as 20th Century Fox wants to make it the best that it could be.

New reports say that they are tapping Shane Black of 'Iron Man 3,' Joe Cornish of 'Attack The Block,' and Doug Liman of 'The Bourne Identity.'

No news yet were released regarding who has the higher chance of booking this huge Marvel gig. This choice was a result of the sudden withdrawal of Director Rupert Wyatt.

Rupert Wyatt allegedly pulled out of 'Gambit' due to script and budget disagreements, but an official statement by his representatives said that it was due to scheduling conflicts. However, he still wishes the huge production well and says, "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."

With no director on board yet, it comes to no surprise that filming has been pushed back to March instead of having it started last November. Also, Channing Tatum -- who will play Gambit himself, is reported to be the one courting Doug Liman for the said opportunity. All directors are solid contenders for the project, and any one of them would be a great fit. The director-to-be will be working alongside scriptwriter Josh Zetumer, and 'Gambit' co-creator, Chris Claremont.

'Magic Mike' star Channing Tatum is the only one confirmed yet for the project, but rumors have circulated that 'Spectre' leading lady Lea Seydoux will be playing the vital role of Belladonna Boudreaux alongside Gambit.

'Gambit' is in its very early stages, and there is no final plot yet nor final direction. There is also no final release date yet, although the people at 20th Century Fox are targeting a 2016 release.
