Before "Homeland" Season 5 finale episode, Showtime had revealed that it will renew the new for Season 6, and the creators have shared what they have planned so far for the new season.
According to the recap by Christian Post, "Homeland" Season 5 ended with a major cliffhanger where the fate of Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) wasn't revealed. Fans are now wondering if Quinn gets to survive for Season 6 or if he is actually dead.
MNR Daily reports that showrunner Alex Gansa revealed in an interview with the New York Times that they still do not have a solid storyline for Season 6. When he was asked whether the recent shootings like the one in San Bernardino California could be the next focus of the show, he admitted that they still do not know where they will be filming next season and what will influence them to make a story.
However, Gansa revealed that what they are sure about now is that the show will still tackle domestic and international terrorism. He explained that it is a broad topic since terrorism is not only present in Europe and in the United States. He added that terrorism has captured the audience in a significant way, so he thinks that it will still be the central theme for Season 6.
Aside from the confirmation of the show's renewal for Season 6, Gansa also assured fans that the show will continue until Season 7. He said that he is guessing that the show will run for two more seasons before it could possibly end.
As of writing, there is still no news when "Homeland" Season 6 will premiere, but it is expected to air sometime in 2016.
