Former Lake View Hotel and Conference Center In Lake George Has New Owner

After three years of being closed, the former Lake View Hotel and Conference now has a new owner, Post Star reports.

Warren County deeds records show details of the sale which was "purchased by 2451 Route 9N LLC from TD Bank N.A. for $475,000 on Dec. 14." In the deed the address written for the liability company that bought the property is at 27 Silver Circle, Queensbury, the location of Gross Electric Inc. that is owned by Joseph Gross.

Gross was unable to return a phone call when asked for a comment.

The property which was formerly a Ramada Inn, used to be with the Boychuk family and was on the market for more than $2 million several years ago.

The 9-acre property has been listed on several real estate websites at $959,000 with listing photos that show the property's deteriorating walls and ceilings. New owners are suggested to do a complete rehab or a new construction, said the listing.

When the foreclosure completed in February, officials saw the chance of bringing a large destination outdoors shop to the location but had not pursued anything over the past year says Supervisor Dennis Dickinson.

Nebraska-based Cabela's was reported to express interest in a shopping center proposed in Colonie, however, there was no confirmation from the company.

Because of their massive amounts of merchandise and interactive displays which include ponds, fish tanks and rock-climbing walls, big outfitters shops such as Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's are considered as destinations.

According to Dickinson, they are yet to hear from officials of the two stores and any plans on town's behalf with the property "fell by the wayside."

"I think they would have been better off in Lake George," Dickinson said of the possible location of a suburban Albany Cabela's.

So far, Dickinson also has not yet heard from Gross regarding his plans to the property. Lake George village Mayor Robert Blais hopes that the property will be used that will make for a great view of the lake.
