"Red Dead Redemption" has become so successful that fans have been expecting a sequel.
Months ago, a Reddit user by the name AnonDN1978, who claims to be an employee of Rockstar, has leaked details about "Red Dead Redemption 2," a sequel to Western-themed action game "Red Dead Redemption" that was released in May 2010. The said leaks mentioned new characters and that John Marston will not be in the sequel anymore. He even mentioned the possibility of having a PC port for "Red Dead Redemption" 1 or 2.
According to CrossMap, AnonDN1978 hated his boss and as payback has decided to spread leaks about "Red Dead Redemption 2." And besides sharing that the sequel is currently in development he also revealed that the title will be "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West"
It was not really confirmed if AnonDN1978 has ever worked for the company. But his claims may not far from being possible. According to VG 24/7, in a recent interview with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shed some light on the company's view of "Red Dead Redemption."
Zelnick said, ""I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others."
So with the fact that RockStar or Take-Two says that "Red Dead" is a permanent franchise a "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not at all farfetched. Moreover with John Marston dead in the first title it does make sense for the developer not to put him back in "Red Dead 2". The only problem now is that if AnonDN1978 was telling the truth, the developer might have to make some changes and the title might not be "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West" any more.
