"Wicked City" gets a second chance at Hulu.
According to The Wrap, the ABC freshman series will have an "early" resurrection as the streaming network will air its remaining episodes just after a month of its cancelation.
"Wicked City" episodes 4 to 7, which were shot before the cancelation, will be aired alongside the first three episodes. They will be included in the Hulu Wednesday schedule.
Meanwhile, "Wicked City" executive producer Laurie Zaks confirmed that the eighth episode is currently under the final stages of editing. She also said that it will be added to the streamed episodes on Hulu and the network's own site.
"We just finished editing episode 108 #wickedcity. sure it will be added to @hulu & https://abc.com shortly," Zaks said in her tweet.
In a previous post, Zaks noted that the production has given a "great ending" for the final episode, which she said to be "suitable for streaming."
"Wicked City" was axed last November with only three aired episodes. It is noted for being the first ever canceled series from the fall 2015-2016 TV season.
The Wrap later on elaborated that there's a "twist" behind the show's Hulu transfer. It was a no surprise that Hulu picked up the canceled series because ABC co-owned the streaming service with Comcast’s NBC Universal and 21st Century Fox.
"Most of these programs have devoted, niche audiences, but 'Wicked City' never inspired much fandom, neither among viewers nor critics," the outlet said.
The series stood up from its predecessors, despite having low ratings and mixed reviews, will have a chance at being revived. According to The Wrap, Nielsen People Meter said that the third episode had a historic lowest rating for a non-Saturday series from a broadcast network.
"Wicked City" follows Kent Crainger (Ed Westwick) and Betty Beaumontaine (Erika Christensen), two serial killers who found love in Sunset Blvd. They are on the run from L.A. detective Jack Roth (Jeremy Sisto) and Paco Contreras (Gabriel Luna).
Created by Steve Baigelman and Amy Harris, "Wicked City" stars "Suburgatory" actor, Jeremy Sisto, "American Horror Story" cast member Taissa Farmiga, "Matador"'s Gabriel Luna with "Gossip Girl" villain Ed Westwick and "Parenthood" actress Erika Christensen.
