Colombia and the Latin Community must have been very proud of Miss Colombia being announced as the winner only to find out in a few minutes that such declaration was only a "false alarm."
The rightful declaration was done after host Steve Harvey called on Miss Philippines as the real winner and made a public apology. With that, Miss Germany and the President of Colombia expressed their dissatisfaction and strong disappointment saying that Miss Colombia should have been the ultimate winner and that none of the contenders voted for Miss Philippines as featured in the US Magazine.
"I was very happy for Miss Colombia, because she really deserved it. I'm really not happy with the result, and so are the other girls, I'm sorry to say it. Because [none] of us voted for Philippines. I'm so sorry to say it," Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek said in an interview with Colombian journalist Natalie Cruz.
"I was watching Miss Universe with my family and we even celebrated when we heard Colombia was going to be Miss Universe for the second year in a row. Miss Colombia was marvelous and spectacular," the leader said via his country's consul general in NYC. "It was a letdown when the host said he made a mistake. I don't believe this has ever happened in the history of Miss Universe. For me, Miss Colombia is Miss Universe and will continue to be Miss Universe. They placed the crown on her, there is a photo and for me as a Colombian she will continue to be Miss Universe," Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos reacted.
Even Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the hailed Miss Universe 2015 had doubts whether she really was the winner. "I had to ask my manager many times like, 'Did I really win? Am I really Miss Universe? Are you going to take the crown from me now? And they said, 'No, no, you're really the winner," she recalled to Entertainment Tonight.
If you were in the place of Miss Colombia, you surely would have felt embarrassed and downhearted, but it seemed that Ariadna Gutierrez didn't give in to it that much as she decided to finally break her silence regarding the ultimate debacle of Miss Universe history.
