Fans of popular indie game series "Five Nights at Freddy's" are disappointed with Scott Cawthon's Novel "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" that was released last Dec 22.
As previously reported, many "Five Nights at Freddy's" fans were excited about Scott Cawthon's novel hoping that it would finally explain the mysteries that haunted the jump-scare themed video game series. One of the most debatable topic was the "Bite of '87" vs the "Bite of '83," which many hope would finally get closure.
However, in a recent report ran by Design and Trend, "Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" turned out rather disappointing. The first reason was because Scott seemed to have added some irrelevant story lines which viewers might find so disconnected from the "FNAF" lore. As an example, Design and Trend has cited the part where the Novel has touched on the relationship between Charlie and a childhood friend, many think that it was too long than necessary.
Another thing that has left fans disappointed was that the novel did not tackle the Puppet animatronic in "Five Nights At Freddy's 2." Many reportedly believe he was a critical part in the "Five Nights At Freddy's 2" but it was not mentioned in the book even once. In addition, fans did not expect the subtle treatment the animatronics got in the book. Many perceived them as killing machines with minds of their own but they appeared less scary in the book.
Moreover, according to Design and Trend the style of writing was too straightforward and that coherence between events was poor and not fluid. Worse, the book seemed to be in an entirely different timeline. Thus in general the book did not satisfy the expectations of those who have closely followed the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series.
Cawthon has said in the Steam forums, "So yes, the book is canon, just as the games are. That doesn't mean that they are intended to fit together like two puzzle pieces. I would actually ask anyone wanting to read the book, even if you are a devout fan of the games, to read the book for the sake of enjoying the book, and don't try to "solve" anything. The book is a re-imagining of the Five Nights at Freddy's story, and if you go into it with that mindset, I think you will really enjoy it."
Scott's response to the fans' opinion of the book proved even more disappointing. But for those who have not read the book yet and would like to see for themselves, "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes" is available now in Kindle
