MLB Trade Rumors: St. Louis Cardinals Acquiring Either Corey Dickerson or Charlie Blackmon While Trading Alex Reyes

According to Benjamin Hochman of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Cardinals is in need of an outfield assistance and reportedly interested with Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson. This urgency of the Cardinals is a result of Jason Heyward leaving their franchise in favour of Chicago Cubs. That is why the Cardinals are now in search for possible candidate to fill in the void.

In line with the possible trade, the Cardinals have been reported to be in contact with the Colorado Rockies for a possible trade of Carlos Gonzales, Corey Dickerson, and Charlie Blackmon. Jon Morosi of Fox Sports stipulated on his social media account that, "#STLCards engaged in trade dialogue with #Rockies about outfielders. Gonzalez, Blackmon, Dickerson are available. "

The news of the Cardinals wanting to acquire one of the three said outfielders was even narrowed down by some insiders into two. Based on the reports, Cardinal may choose either from Corey Dickerson and Charlie Blackmon.

 This rumor somehow makes sense for Blackmon is showing some efficiency this 2015 campaign, which includes stealing 43 bases. On the other hand, Dickerson who is much younger had a better season than Blackmon, Dickerson batted .304/.333/.536 to complement 10 home runs and 31 RBIs. This lefty would particularly be of great help for the Cardinals and would somehow clear some space in the Rockies who have been shopping some outfielders.

However, there could be a downside on the said possible trade deal. Aside from the price concern, which Rockies will not be lowering their standards, Cardinals would also have to deal with the exchange piece. According to mlbdailydish;

"While the Cardinals do need another outfielder, they might not be willing to part with notable prospects in order to add one. In a package including an outfielder, the Rockies would likely request pitcher Alex Reyes."

Now it's really up to the Cardinals to take advantage for a possible trade deal of an outfielder, especially that the "trade market has not fully come together."
