After losing four of his last Premier League games, it is now being rumored that Louis van Gaal is quitting from his post in Manchester United as their manager. And this rumor comes with a condition, if his team will lose their fifth game in a row.
The 64 year old Dutchman has been reported to be frustrated after not having any victory after 7 games. He admitted during a post-match news conference via BBC that, "It is not always the club that has to fire or sack me. Sometimes I do that by myself, but I am the one who wants to speak first with the board of Manchester United and my members of staff and my players, not with you."
Despite the issue, Danny Murphy believed that quitting is not an option that Van Gaal would rather choose. According to Murphy, former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder;
"My worry for United is that whoever comes in they've got a squad lacking athleticism. With Jose Mourinho you're guaranteed trophies and Pep Guardiola is the same. I'm sure there will be many meetings going on." He added United could do "a lot worse" than give the job to assistant manager Ryan Giggs, who made 963 appearances for the club."
This belief is of course in line with the other rumors linking Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola, as the possible replacement for Van Gaal. Still it cannot be blamed that reports of Van Gaal quitting is widespread, especially that his boss said "he could choose to quit" as BBC reported.
However, despite the said rumors of being sacked or having to quit, Van Gaal still has the support of his team. "I feel the support of my players and my board. The fans will be disappointed but that is logical after four defeats. For me it's much more important that people are saying that to me," he said. "I am not so interested in public sayings," said Van Gaal.
