‘Star Citizen Alpha’ Gameplay: Patch 2.1 Update Is Now Live, Adds Sabre ship, And Fixes The Game's Crusader Region

Game developer Cloud Imperium Games has announced on Monday that it will roll out a new update for its popular video game "Star Citizen Alpha." The company said that avid fans and die-hard gamers of the game can actually access the "Alpha" Patch 2.1.0 update through the game's public test universe, a report from Gamespot said.

According to the report, the game's new update has also added a Sabre ship which is a flyable Freelancer base. Aside from this, the update has brought some major improvements and fixes specifically the Crusader region.

In a statement, the game developer has instructed the players on how to properly apply the new update in order to avoid errors.

"It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER folder for the Public client after patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on loading. The USER folder can be found (in default installations) at C:Program FilesCloud Imperium GamesStarCitizenText," Cloud Imperium Games said as stated in its website.

Tweak Town reports that the developer Cloud Imperium has encountered several technical issues when it developed the game's "Alpha 2.1.0." The company admitted that a couple of issues have forced the team of developers to stop and pushed the temporary update for now. One of the technical issues identified by the team was the game's huge frame rate drops.

"The last thing we want is to jeopardize all of the fun everyone's been having with 2.0.0, and certainly not over the entire holiday period. With that in mind, we'll be keeping 2.0.0 on the Live service and opening up 2.1.0 on PTU for all players!," the company said as quoted in the report.

Listed below are some of the salient points that Cloud Imperium would like players to note before getting the game's recent update as reported by Gamespot.

  • Our original EVA system is remaining active for the time being. After testing and feedback on the PTU, we opted to disable the new physical EVA system to allow for more polish and bug fixing.
  • Freelancer damage states are not fully implemented and will not be working during the initial 2.1.0 launch.
