The Chicago White Sox is looking forward on something this coming 2016. As the White Sox added two new infielders Todd Frazier and Brett Lawrie, it is now being rumored that the team would like to bolster their outfield defensive positions as well. With the likes of Melky Cabrera, J.B. Shuck, Adam Eaton, Leury Garcia, and Avisail Garcia in the outfield, the White Sox would like to add more strength to it by possibly welcoming Alex Gordon in their roster.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the White Sox is showing an interest in Alex Gordon for his defence. The move of acquiring Gordon would really be beneficial for the team, especially that they have been having some issues in their defences lately. The expertise of Gordon as a reliable left fielder will surely fit in with the White Sox.
Having Gordon's positive values in the area of concern, pressure on Cabrera's neck will somehow be lessen, especially that he has been struggling this season. But still, the question remains on whether Chicago White Sox would take a risk on Gordon with a possible $90 million contract for four or five years, reported by mlbdailydish.
It could be too much of an amount for the White Sox to stomach. However, they do have some options in background. Dexter Fowler, Denard Span, and Gerardo Parra have been pointed out to be the possible candidate in lieu of Alex Gordon. The said players are all on the market and could possibly come along with lesser price tag.
But it is still too early to conclude whether White Sox will surely take Gordon with them or not, and there are also other options available in the market for them to choose from. Guess we would just have to wait and see on how desperate White Sox is in improving their defensive line.
