Philips, the electronics giant, just released a new advertisement through which it intended to show how lighting changed over the years. But unconsciously, it also gave us a time-lapse peek into the evolution of American living rooms.
The ad starts off with the age when the bulb was invented and progressed through decades to end at the latest century and modern-age lighting.
PetaPixel.com thinks the ad is pretty entertaining, but nothing "revolutionary".
"The point they're trying to make is that the living room has evolved, but the light bulb has not, and so this is actually a commercial for Philips' Internet-connected lightbulb Hue. But it takes a unique approach that creates a psuedo-time-lapse we could only dream of having the patience and means to capture," the website writes.
The bulb fixed initially remains until a more modern decade when it is replaced by a CFL bulb. Check out the video below:
Interior design has indeed changed over the years. Conservative block floor plans have made ways for open, flowing ones. The living room, in the modern world, has an open kitchen and a dining area with it which allows for free changes.
But decorating a living room can be a daunting task for any home owner. While designing the busiest room in the house, one has to keep in mind that the furniture should be in accordance with the size of the area and the wall color should in turn complement the furniture and other accessories.
"When it comes to decorating, I dislike rules-despise them, avoid them, and discount them. But here's a directive that actually bears repeating: One's living room should have sufficient seating to accommodate a variety of body heights, breadths, and postures," Mitchell Owens wrote in a feature for The Architectural Digest.
