Beyonce and Jay Z is considered the most powerful and influential celebrity couple especially in the music industry with a combined net worth of 1 billion pounds. "Becoming Beyonce," a biography written by Hollywood biographer J Randy Taraborrelli, gives fans a glimpse of the star's love story with husband Jay Z which didn't start with a love at first sight, Movie News Guide reported.
The two first met in a benefit concert in New York City. When Beyonce was asked by her uncle if she sees herself with Jay Z, she responded with "Eww" while she told her friends that she is "not into Jay."
As for Jay Z, he wasn't that interested at Beyonce as well but merely "smelled the brand" as he knew it will help him boost his career when he dates Beyonce. Same is true with Beyonce since Jay Z had a hit with "Hard Knock Life" and was known in hip-hop circles which could help Beyonce get more urban sensibility as a pop princess.
“The way I saw it, it was more calculated than romantic," Jay’s mentor Jaz-O said according to Mirror UK. “He was thinking about his brand as much as his heart. He can smell opportunity.”

When Queen B met Jay Z, she just broke up with her long-term teenage boyfriend, Lyndall Locke who repeatedly cheated on her. Her mother Tina urged her to date Jay Z to help her move on from her current breakup.
During that time, Beyonce was already getting famous with her girl group, "Destiny's Child." As for Jay Z, it became a challenge for him to get Beyonce as he already made a name for himself.
According to Yvonne Boyd, the aunt of Destiny’s Child star LaTavia Roberson, she once heard Jay Z tell a friend, “I’m gonna get her” while gesturing towards Beyonce.
The two started dating and as they get to know each other more, both fell in love and was in a real romance.
“From my vantage point, the love between them grew out of respect for him," said Billy B, Beyonce’s make-up artist. “Also in Jay Z she had met someone who was smart, maybe smarter than she was, and she was intrigued by that. People made jokes about his looks, saying he was not handsome enough for her, but she didn’t care.”
It was also obvious to other people around Beyonce that something serious is going to happen with the two singers.
“As I was listening to her talk about Jay Z I sat there thinking, ‘This man is going to be her husband’," vocal coach Kim Wood Sandusky said. “I think he was opening up her heart in a way she didn’t know was possible. Seeing the sparkle in her eye, I knew something wonderful was unfolding in her life.”
The two dated for years with Beyonce looking at Jay Z as a father figure since she parted ways with her dad Mathew Knowles who guided her to her stardom. Beyonce always wanted to please people since she always worry about what others will say about her.
But Jay changed that telling her that she "don't have to be perfect" which is one reason that made their relationship last. Jay Z is older and has taught many things to Beyonce while Beyonce is smart and independent.
Hence, despite many marriage trouble stories, the two still remains madly in love.
