John Bradbury reportedly died on Monday without probable cause. The 2 Tone ska legend drummer of The Specials died at 62.
The Specials shared on Twitter, "It is with deep regret that we say goodbye to our great friend, the world's greatest drummer."
According to Billboard, the Bradbury's family also shared their complete statement on his surprising death which says, "It is with deepest regret that we have to announce the very sad news that our much loved husband and father John 'Brad' Bradbury passed away on Monday the 28th of December. Brad's drumming was the powerhouse behind The Specials and it was seen as a key part to the Two Tone sound."
They added, "He was much respected in the world of drumming and his style of reggae and ska was seen as genuinely ground breaking when The Specials first hit the charts in 1979. He was an integral part of The Specials reforming in 2008 and toured with them extensively up to the present day."
"His contribution to the world of music cannot be understated and he will much missed by family, friends and fans alike. It is the families sincerest wish that they are allowed the time to remember him privately."
Bradbury was 24 years old when he joined 1979 and also co-wrote some of the band's songs like "It's Up To You" and "Nite Klub." He also helped pen with another track "Gangsters." The band was already formed in Coventry, England, two years before he actually joined.
Yahoo added that he was on board when the band was reformed in 2008 after their official split in 1984.
Billy Bragg and Franz Ferdinand also shared their deepest thoughts through their Twitter accounts. Bragg tweeted, "A bad day for good music. First we lose Lemmy, now news that Brad from The Specials has passed away. RIP." "Sad to hear of the death of John Bradbury. A good bloke and an amazing drummer," Kapranos said.
