A historic mansion in the Coconut Grove area of Miami, Fla., has hit the market for $65 million making it the most expensive listing of the city.
William Pierce of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate is marketing the 6.91 acre property, which has a huge chunk of history attached to it.
The land on which "La Brisa" - the mansion - sits was reportedly first deeded to author Kirk Munroe in 1886. He used to supply water from the spring of La Brisa to the American troops in during the Spanish-American war. Also, flowers from the La Brisa property convinced Henry Flagler, the famous American industrialist, to bring his railroad to the city, according to Pursuitist.com.
The beautiful estate went through the hands of a lawyer and an anthropologist. Property records show that the home last sold for $11.5 million in 2008.
Painstakingly restored and preserved for years, La Brisa has a 16,500-square-foot mansion that features original woodwork from the time, hardwood, tiled and marble flooring, soaring exposed beam ceilings large French doors and windows.
Apart from the nine bedrooms and the 11 bathrooms, living spaces include several seating and dining areas, a modern eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry, an office, a billiards room and a wine cellar. The master suite has a huge ensuite marble bathroom and balconies opening out.
The home also has a guest cottage, a pool with lounging areas, a spring pond, a 4-car garage, rolling greens and a 536-square-foot protected canal. The home also allows for 207 feet of water front and a dock area as well.
