'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has broken records since its release and fans are raving of its cast and production. But behind the success of the movie is a long and tedious process of making an entire film that lives up to the hype, brought by the previous Star Wars movies by George Lucas. Director J.J. Abrams himself admitted that there were scenes in the teaser trailer that were different from the final output of TFA. This is probably why the franchise has released a book that lets us take a peek at how the 7th Star Wars had evolved from the start of the production.
The book which is aptly titled 'The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' reveals a number of should have beens. For one, Daisy Ridley's character Rey was supposedly named Kira. Her character is also the opposite of the Rey in the movie who wanted to go home to Jakku badly. The supposed scavenger who has the ability to use the force wanted to leave her home desperately instead. Another character who was supposed to be different from the one shown in the film is the reluctant hero Finn, played by John Boyega. According to the book, the former stormtrooper was a young white man named Sam. Good thing the movie runners took a different road and made him into the Finn that fans have grown to love after watching TFA. One other role that has completely transformed after the full production is ace pilot of the resistance, Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac. Apparently, the earlier description of the pilot was a middle-aged Africa American man and he was supposed to be either a jedi or a bounty hunter.
Star Wars geeks would certainly look forward to the revelations of the book. The franchise has been known to maximize its commercial potential, and this is one way of bringing more hype to the continuation of the saga.
