Russell Crowe is very angry over some luggage restrictions imposed by Virgin Australia over hoverboards. The Australian actor took to Twitter his anger and lashed out at the airline saying that he will never again use the airline when he travels, a report from Huffington Post said.
The 51-year-old actor has been traveling with the family over the holidays and he decided to take with them their kids' hoverboards. Indeed, hoverboards are the in thing these days when it comes to children's toys but the 'Gladiator' actor was unaware that this was not allowed on all major airlines.
Airline companies and operators have recently amended their luggage rules disallowing hoverboards because of safety concerns. It has been reported that these may have a tendency to ignite. Many retailers are now recalling their products while airlines do not allow them from luggage.
The actor said on his Twitter page, "Ridiculous @VirginAustralia. No Segway boards as luggage? Too late to tell us at airport. Kids and I offloaded. Goodbye Virgin. Never again."
Virgin Australia responded to his tweet saying, "@russellcrowe Hi Russell, due to safety concerns over the lithium ion batteries in hoverboards, these have been banned on all major Australian airlines and many around the world. We're sorry you were not aware of this prior to check-in today. We hope to see you on board again soon."
'The Water Diviner' actor responded by saying, "@VirginAustralia I'm awaiting your reply, where is your duty of responsibility in this? Why not tell me when I am booking my ticket?"
The Australian carrier responded with more patience, "@russellcrowe Hi Russell, this information is outline in the Dangerous Goods section in the booking confirmation and check in through the media. We understand your frustration, however please appreciate that safety is our number one priority."
