"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 will focus more on the other characters of the hit CBS series.
In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Steve Molaro said that Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) story will take a back seat temporarily.
Meanwhile, there are several hanging storylines when it comes to Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar).
For instance, according to Design & Trend, Penny and Leonard wed earlier in the season, but their marriage has not progressed since then. It is unclear whether or not having a baby is the next step that they would both want to take.
Additionally, there were also some rumors that Howard and Bernadette will become parents this season. Among all of the characters on "The Big Bang Theory," Howard and Bernadette were the first to tie the knot. They eventually moved in together, but that pretty much summed up their relationship.
Since then, Howard and Bernadette have had petty issues and the like, but they never really had a moment wherein they talked about their future.
Additionally, Nayyar's character Raj has taken the backseat for the longest time possible. Raj may be in a relationship with Emily, but executive producer Molaro previously said that Raj is well aware that this is not the kind of relationship he wants to have for keeps.
With this, it's also possible that Raj and Emily will break up, and he could also end up with a new female guest star.
In other news, there are some rumors that "The Big Bang Theory" will be cancelled after Season 10. Molaro said that what's important is that they continue to give fans interesting storylines that will get them hooked to the show.
"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 airs Thursdays on CBS.
