And The Best Zip Code in America Is… (LIST)

There was a time when "90201" was perhaps the most famous zip code in the world (partly because of the TV Series), but have you ever wondered how important your zip code was - apart from its postal address significance?

Movoto Real estate has compiled a list of the best zip codes in the United States and their methodology is as quirky as it gets.

Movoto ranked Zip Codes on the basis of:

- Median household income

- Median rent

- Median worth of home

- Unemployment rate

- High school graduation rate

- Number of families below poverty line

- Average commute time

They factored in the results and the zip code that had the smallest number was the winner. As it goes, Washington D.C. got the crown.

"Let's just take a moment to look at all the cool stuff this Washington, D.C.ZIP code contains. There's Ford's Theater, part of the Smithsonian, the International Spy Museum, and it's only a stone's throw from the White House. What more could you ask for?" the folks at Movoto reasoned.

Below is the list of the top zip codes in the country:

1. 20004, Washington, DC

2. 77005, Houston, Texas

3. 98039, Medina, Wash.

4. 95497, Sea Ranch, Calif.,

5. 11930, Amagansett, NY

6. 92121, San Diego, Calif.,

7. 60603, Chicago, Ill.,

8. 60602, Chicago, Ill.,

9. 67230, Wichita, Kan.,

Washington D.C has been securing the top spot on many "best" and "most" lists these days.

More recently, it was named the top state where the most expensive homes in the country are built. Earlier, it was also voted the healthiest state in the United States. It also managed to secure the seventh spot on Zillow's "best city for Trick or Treat" this year.
