Fans anticipating "Daredevil" will be ecstatic with this new update regarding the series. Elektra and the Punisher are the two new additional major characters revealed in the upcoming Netflix show. In addition to this, Executive Producer Doug Petrie hints that fans can expect more than what was already set for them to see.
ComingSoon reports that Matt Murdock's "Daredevil" will be joined by "The Walking Dead" alum Jon Bernthal who will play Frank Castle aka "Punisher." Meanwhile, Elodie Yung will play the role of the ninja assassin Elektra Natchios. The earlier news specifically notes that the second season of "Daredevil" may also be regarded as "Daredevil versus the Punisher." But it seems like showrunners of the series is quick to avert that "Daredevil" is not only about the two of them.
"Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we're also going to force people - the way we force Matt - to second-guess themselves," said showrunner Doug Petrie in the article of the Nerdist. "Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s-t. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you've got a gun and you're not the police you're going to incite strong feelings. We're stirring the pot and we're aware of the headlines where we live and we're trying to get people to think."
Meanwhile, IO9 gives clues about Punisher which is quizzical just like his character.
"He has a different moral code. Matt is a devout Catholic - and you rarely see a character who's a devotee anything on TV. Frank has Hammurabi's Code. It's like letting a great white shark into the water."
Elektra on the other hand is vicious and deceptive but it may not always play out hard for the main man in the series.
"Matt's a deeply moral complicated guy and she's just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have" scooped the article."She does everything wrong and attractive, she's his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He's both repulsed and deeply drawn to that."
Aside from Elektra and the Punisher entering the series, Design N Trend also indicates that Rosario Dawson will be coming back in the second season as Claire Temple same as Scott Glenn playing Stick. Meanwhile the outlet also hints the other characters in the story, Stephen Rider as Blake Tower.
No specific dates yet were released for the series. In the meantime "Daredevil" season 2 is scheduled in 2016.
