‘Baywatch’ Movie Adaptation Will Bring Zac Efron and “The Rock” Together

“Baywatch” will be having a film adaptation, which will star Zac Efron and Dwaye “The Rock” Johnson. It was officially announced by Paramount back in 2014 and it was only in August that Efron was cast for the movie.

Efron and Johnson will be donning the red swimming trunks, which is the trademark of the “Baywatch” TV series back in the late 90s. Both are said to be playing the role of lifeguards, a by-the-book and very serious Johnson, while Efron will be a hothead one.

The “Baywatch” movie is rumored to also star Kelly Brook, who will play the role of Pamela Anderson in the TV series, Metro reported. She had confirmed that she already read the script, but nothing more.

“But they are still writing it. I’ve read the script and they are rewriting it so I don’t know if there is a role in there for me. I’m a bit old to play Pamela Anderson role so I don’t know, but I know all the producers and it’s funny and we’ll see. I don’t know,” The Mirror reported.

Efron said a little about the upcoming “Baywatch movie during the press day for “We Are Your Friends”. He said that, he and Johnson had a casual conversation about the project and was not expecting it to be up soon. He also added that the movie adaptation wants to pay respects to the original show, yet will still contain some action. “We’re going to beat up some dudes, and swim a lot,” Efron said.

“Baywatch” is also said to be produced by Johnson and Dany Garcia via their Seven Bucks Production. The movie outfit will handled by Montecito Pictures and Beau Flynn. Seth Gordon was announced to be taking the helm while Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are doing the script.

“Baywatch” cast and crew will be starting in the first quarter of 2016, sources familiar to the film said.
