Software giant Microsoft announced earlier this week that the company is planning to launch a "Selfie" app which will be rolled out to Apple's iPhone.

The company said that the soon-to-be-launched Selfie app will feature 13 filters and several camera settings such as noise reduction, color theme,  color balance, skin tone enhancement, among others. The app is said to automatically improve a selfie or portrait photos, a report from Tech Times said on Thursday.

"The app takes age, gender, skin tone, lighting, and many other variables into account, applies different models automatically and finishes enhancement with just a single click. Users can transform average photos into more presentable portraits in seconds. Key features of this application are noise reduction, intelligent enhancement, automatic exposure and color theme," a description of the Microsoft Selfie reads as published in the App Store.

According to the report, prior to Microsoft Selfie app, it can be recalled that the company has previously rolled out a Selfie app exclusively for Windows smartphone.

Gadgets NDTV reports that the new app provides a "simple with minimal and easy to access features." It was said that the Selfie app uses the company's new machine learning technology that is capable of detecting the user's age from a certain photograph. The said technology was introduced back in May this via the company's "How Old" website.

"The iOS users can either click a new image from the device's front-facing or rear camera, or select an existing image from the local storage. Microsoft Selfie however, gives no way to users to directly share their edited final image to social networking websites such as Instagram, Google Photos, Facebook, or Twitter. It can be downloaded from the App Store. It weighs 56.9MB and is compatible with iOS 8.0 and later OS versions. Microsoft has not yet given any word on when they will launch the app for Android," the report said.
