Despite already knowing that it is only a world of make-believe, still, we love everything about Disney. This, perhaps, because Disney is our ticket to escaping from reality so we become young fools again.
While we enjoy every bit of trick Disney shows the world, we have also allowed ourselves to be puzzled on the enigma surrounding it. Well, who wouldn't love being in the magic spell of enchantment?
We simply love anything beyond ordinary, and human as we are, we just can't get enough of the beautiful wonders of extraordinary things Disney holds, including its little secrets.
But, how far have you really known Disney?
Disney portrays perfection with everything perfect on stage in their show and it is so secretive about its inner workings and dirty laundry, as told by one Disneyland insider to Yahoo! Travel.
While we believe in all of its 'make-believe', we should also realize that real life is not that way, and that life at Disney can also get messy.
Yahoo! Travel features few things you don't know about Disney, wanting to convince us that there's something more behind Disney's façade:
Disney's Haunted Mansion becomes a make-shift cemetery for some visitors
One incident that happened during the post 9/11 anthrax scare has been revealed that the park officials caught on secret camera a couple throwing a powdery substance into a graveyard scene during the ride and found out that it was human remains. This couple had a child who loved the Haunted Mansion but passed away because of illness. Believing that throwing their child's remains is leaving a bit of their child in the Haunted Mansion, the couple did just that. So, wanna make Disney your loved one's final resting place, too?
Sometimes the characters get sued
Behind their charming efforts to captivate us lies their Disney characters' reputations having been dragged into courtrooms and have become victims of some vicious audience. Winnie-the-Pooh (1980s), Donald Duck and Tigger unfortunately shared the same plight and sentiment. In 2008, Donald Duck was sued because of misbehavior before an audience, Winnie-the-Pooh was accused of slapping a young girl during a show back in the 1980s while Tigger had a bad year in 2004 facing multiple accusations against him.
Reason behind the very green waterways
You will notice that the water in Disneyland waterways is green in color. At first glance, you would think that the color of the waters in the Rivers of America, the Jungle Cruise River and the Storybook Land canals is just a product of special effects, or worst, you might think that the water is just really dirty. David Koenig, author of Disneyland books, says that the water is intentionally dyed green to preserve the Disney magic.
"In the days of Walt Disney, he wanted you to believe you were on a 19th century steamship or paddle wheeler," explains Koenig, "that these were actual real free-floating boats. Not that they were riding on a track. By dyeing the water green you can't see the track," he added.
They also do maintenance cleaning once every couple of years. They've found amazing things dropped at the bottom of these rivers such as hundreds of cameras, large strollers, wheelchairs, among others. Yes so far, they did not find a singing mermaid.
Disney is not the happiest place in the world
Disney's a place that can make you smile, at least, for a while but cannot really be a place where you can live happily ever after. The noise of the surroundings brought about by the misbehaving kids and random visitors at the Disney Park and all domestic situations do say that Disney is not the happiest place history has ever told.
"You're talking about a long day, especially if it's been a really busy day," says Ken Pellman, former cast member of Disney and co-author of Disney books. "Sometimes you would witness things, people getting really upset with each other. And you kind of keep an eye out and maybe call security to make sure that nothing bad happened to anybody," Pellman added.
