Bill Cosby Finally Speaks Up After Sexual Assault Charges

Bill Cosby chose to keep mum for a short while regarding the sexual assault charges about him. Yet, knowing there's time for everything, Cosby finally broke his silence the very first day of 2016.

"Friends and fans, thank you." These were the words of 78-year-old comedian on his official twitter account posted last Jan. 1, 2016 following his arraignment.

Updates from Yahoo! News show that Bill Cosby was charged with aggravated indecent assault last Wednesday. He was accused by former employee Andrea Constand of Temple University with drugging and violating at his mansion in 2004. She filed a civil case against Cosby for an undisclosed case back in 2006. This was not the first case filed against him as more 50 other woman had also accused him of the same charge. Yet with all these accusations, Cosby continues to prove his innocence.

On Wednesday, a $1 million bail was set with added conditions for Cosby. These conditions include avoiding any contact with his alleged victim and surrendering his passport. He was able to post $100,000 which is 10 percent of the bail, a required amount so he could be temporarily released.

Coby's lawyer, Monique Pressley, pledged "not guilty" for his client on Thursday via satellite on "Today Show." The lawyer discussed the criminal charge of Cosby. When asked on "Today Show" on NBC if they are open to a plea agreement, the lawyer replied saying "My client is not guilty. And there will be no consideration on our part of any sort of the arrangement."

She added, "I believe when you separate what happens in the court of law from what has been allowed to happen in the fictional court of public opinion you will get an outcome that justice requires."

The charge against Cosby is considered "second degree felony" and if the comedian is found guilty, he would be facing 10 years of imprisonment. Aside from that, he would also be registered sex offender as required by the law. Cosby's preliminary hearing is scheduled on Jan. 14, 2016.
