"Microsoft Selfie" was recently released by Microsoft, and it is an image enhancing application. It is a very simple program that one can use to edit images taken with an iPhone, and one that lets the user make some adjustments on the photos. The end result is like a retouch performed by a professional studio.
"Microsoft Selfie" is said to consider different metrics in creating the adjustments on the images. It includes age, gender, lighting, skin tone, exposure, theme, noise reduction and a few more, to have that perfect selfie image that one can share with the friends or post in their social media page. "Users can transform average photos into more presentable portraits in seconds," Microsoft said in its iTunes page.
"Microsoft Selfie" does its job well, based on the sample images it had shown. The technology used in the app is quite impressive. Images are quickly smoothen-out by simply pressing a button. If a user finds the resulting images, a little bit unacceptable, a slider can then be utilized to properly adjust the images to suit one's taste.
"Microsoft Selfie" is not limited to the front-facing camera. It can process any image, as long as it can load it. Additionally, there are several predefined filters that can also be used for the users' images. However, the Microsoft app does not contain a link to any social media sites, like Instagram, Facebook and Google Photo, so the user has to do the uploading the old fashion way, VenturaBeat reported.
"Microsoft Selfie" is currently available only for iOS enabled devices such as the iPhone, iPad touch, and iPad. It also requires the iOS 8.0 in order to work. There is no word yet if this new application will be available for Android users.
It was released last Dec. 28, 2015 and is relatively a small sized app, at almost 57 MB.
