'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers: Scott Foley's Jake Ballard Still On ABC Show Because Shonda Rhimes Has A Crush On Him?

"Scandal" season 5 may have still been including Scott Foley's character Jake Ballard because executive producer Shonda Rhimes has a crush on him.

In an interview with TV Line, Foley said that he still has faith that there will be an interesting storyline for his character during the second half of season 5.

"I've learned to always have faith, I know you hear this from all the people in the Shondaland camp, but they do amazing things, man," he said.

However, fans believe that Foley's character has no more place on the show because he's been given so many tasks and positions that he's unable to portray well.

Meanwhile, on Design & Trend's website, fans commented that Foley should be axed from the series. However, this might not happen because of Rhimes herself.

One fan @Latty5 wrote, "Bless you for this article! He literally serves no purpose. He was brought on as a roadblock to Olitz and that's it. But Olitz never needed additional roadblocks; they already had Mellie, Cyrus, and even Olivia keeping the couple at a stalemate. Hell, he has been not needed since the end of Season 2. The only reason he is still on 'Scandal' is bc Shonda has had a crush on Scott Foley since 'Felicity,' her own words. Give him his own show then Shonda and get him off 'Scandal!'"

Another fan @deena braun wrote, "Kudos for relating the truth about SF. Shonda constantly tried to shove him down fans throats; but it didn't work before, won't work going forward. Fans tune in to see Tony Goldwyn. Period. Even though Fitz has been written to emasculate him in favor of SF, the gamble failed. SF serves NO purpose on 'Scandal' and Shonda will continue this debacle to the detriment of the show. The end of 'Scandal.' So sad."

"Scandal" season 5 will return to ABC on Feb. 11, 2016 at 9 p.m. ET.
