'The X-Files' Star Gillian Anderson Reveals She Had Problems Playing Dana Scully

"The X-Files" star Gillian Anderson recently revealed that she had some problems playing a much older version of Dana Scully.

In an interview with Vulture, Anderson said, "I had this locked sense of her that is stuck somewhere in those early episodes. So I had to get out of my head the idea that I didn't seem like her at all, because this was the grown-up version of her."

Anderson revealed that she immediately recognized the fact that her voice as Dana should be much lower compared to how it was when the show first aired in 1993.

From there, Anderson modulated her voice, and playing a much older version of her well-loved character became much easier for her.

Meanwhile, the 47-year-old actress also revealed another reason why she thinks portraying the same character became quite tough for her this time around.

"It feels like it's been a long time since I've played her. I can't remember what year the movie was, but it felt like Scully was further away from me than I'd thought she would be. But I've also worked really hard at putting her entirely to sleep, so that was successful; she's just taken longer to wake up," she told TV Line in June.

In other news, Anderson revealed that even after she finished filming for "The X-Files," she still had doubts as to whether or not the remake will be successful.

"When I watched the first episode, my reaction was, 'Man, is this enough?' And then the expert in all things, Simon Pegg, said to me, 'What they want is exactly what they got to begin with. It's like comfort food. They want what you originally gave them and that will be enough.' And that's what you're going to get. Hopefully, you guys will be happy, because that's what it's all about," she said.

"The X-Files" will premiere on Jan. 24 on FOX.
