The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are falling short in doing their royal responsibilities while Prince Phillip of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth proved to be role-models to the younger members of the royal family in accomplishing more responsibilities than them.
Inquisitr reports that even if Duchess Kate and Prince William's attendance to royal engagements were combined this year, the royal couple will still not make it up to par to what Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip accomplished.
According to the article based from IBTimes, Queen Elizabeth made a promising 341 engagements last year, 306 of which in UK and 35 are overseas. While Prince Phillip on the other hand accomplished 250 engagements, 217 in the UK and 33 of which were held outside UK.
Prince William apparently made 98 engagements last year and the Duchess Kate committed only to 62. The number of attendance between Kate and William dwindled in numbers due to Kate's maternity leave in delivering Princess Charlotte while William on the other hand worked as a helicopter pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance Service.
According to the official website of the Royal Family, engagements attended by the royals are one of their roles as Monarchies. The other members of the royal family are expected to take part on these arrangements to support the Queen and become the Queen's representative when she is absent on a certain affair. The website also declares that the royal family as a whole has 2,000 scheduled engagements each year, both in UK and abroad.
"Every year the Royal Family as a whole carries out over 2,000 official engagements throughout the UK and worldwide."
"These engagements may include official State responsibilities. Members of the Royal Family often carry out official duties in the UK and abroad where The Queen cannot be present in person. The Prince of Wales and The Princess Royal, for example, may present members of the public with their honours at an Investiture," based on the official website of the Royal family.
Meanwhile, Daily Mail delivered last year that the second child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Princess Anne was the "busiest" among the royals in 2014. The 65-year-old Princess Royal attended 332 charitable works in 2014 and even managed to attend 20 visits a week.
Will this year be Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William's year of engagements? Can they outperform the other royals in their future commitments?
