The world grieves for the loss of the Cole family as the "Unforgettable" singer, Natalie Cole, has finally rested in peace at age 65.
According to Cole's representative via CNN, the Grammy-winning singer died on Dec. 31, Thursday. The death of the "Pink Cadillac" singer was first reported in TMZ.
Cole's family has also released a heart-breaking statement to US Weekly, expressing their regrets over their recent loss.
"It is with heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news of our Mother and sister's passing. Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived with dignity, strength and honor. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever," Cole's family expressed.
Meanwhile, personalities in the Hollywood who are significant to the late Natalie also shared their deepest sympathy.
"Natalie possessed one of those magical voices that grabbed you from the first note. It could sound like honey, but when she wanted to belt, she could keep up with the best of them. In a way, and not just in lineage, Natalie was the connector between the great singers of her father and Ella's generation, and the great female voices who were to dominate in the last 25 years," Ken Ehrlich, the executive producer of the Grammy awards, shared in a statement to US Weekly.
We can recall that in October last year, Cole had a lengthy stay in the hospital to undergo a medical procedure which explained why she had series of schedules for November and December concerts at the San Francisco Symphony that were cancelled.
The singer had suffered Hepatitis C which she admittedly contracted from her use of heroin back in the 1980s. She had also undergone kidney transplant in 2009, showing that the singer had suffered health problems throughout her lifetime.
The "Jump Start (My Heart)" singer and daughter of Nat King Cole, a musician, had a successful career since 1970s but also had a sudden fall because of drug addiction.
Celebrities have mourned over her death using the social media, expressing how Natalie Cole's voice and music have touched the hearts of music lovers around the world.
Cole's son Robert Adam Yancy and her sisters Casey and Timolin Cole will now start learning how to live without their beloved Natalie by their side.
Meanwhile, let's get back to the moment when Natalie Cole made herself so 'unforgettable'.
