Kate Middleton is rumored to be working hard to get the crown but aside from Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, another royal steps up as a competitor for the title since she is dubbed as the Queen's favorite, Movie News Guide reported.
A new report claims that Middleton and Parker-Bowles are the second and third favorites since it is Sophie, the Countess of Wessex who is the favorite of Queen Elizabeth.
“She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn't say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall,” the royal aide said according to Mail Online. “She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close.”
Sophie is the wife of Prince Edward, who is the youngest brother to Prince Charles. It is said that she is very close to the Queen and she treats her like her daughter. Further reports also state that the Queen relies on her and trusts her a lot than Middleton and Bowles.
Queen Elizabeth became closer to Sophie after her sister Princess Margaret died and when the Queen Mother passed away. Reports said that the Countess of Wessex and the Queen has similar interests like military history and maintaining documents at Windsor Castle, Star Pulse reported.
As for Sophie, she also feels the same bond with the Queen because her mother died at the age of 71 back in 2005. One proof that Sophie is close to the queen is the inclusion of Sophie's 84-year-old father, Christopher, in many royal family events which the Middleton's do not receive.
Sophie Rhys-Jones previously worked as a PR while her father is a former salesman and her mother was a secretary. Apparently, she has a lot in common with Middleton since they were not born royals and came from a middle-class family.
“You would have thought that Sophie, coming from a not dissimilar middle-class background, and being Kate's aunt by marriage, would have been the young duchess' sounding board and counsel,” the insider adds. It also noted that she isn't close with the Duchess of Cambridge.
