Ever wondered what it’s like to live in Middle Earth? Do you want to experience living in the cozy home of the Hobbits? You definitely can do that now by renting “The Hobbit’s House” at $1,695 a month.
A Hobbit-inspired compound in Culver City is renting one single-family sized cottage, and two cottages that are divided into multiple units, according to Curbed Los Angeles.
The property was created by Lawrence Joseph, who worked at Disney as an artist and as a carpenter. The compound was built in 24 years. Construction began in 1946 and was completed in 1970.
According to its listing over at Craigslist, the house features walls hewn with rustic stones, glass windows made of lead, and ponds filled with fish and a family of turtles. It looks very magical and very nature-loving as most of the materials used are from fine wood and, at the same time, trees and plants grow around the property.
Ironically, hobbits are known to be short, but this house has a 15-foot ceiling, so you don’t have to worry if you will fit in the house. The furnitures are also built in, much like when hobbits hate re-decorating their houses.
The second floor contains the cozy bedroom with carpeted floors and a walk-in shower in the bathroom.
Everything else is located at the ground floor. This includes a spacious living room connecting to a rustic kitchen with a range and refrigerator, plus a gorgeous built-in dinette set where you can enjoy your meals.
The property is located at 3825 1/4 Dunn Drive, Culver City, California, which is a block away from the Sony Studios, The Kirk Douglas Theater, Trader Joes, and The Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Center.
“The Hobbit” is the prequel novel written by English author J. R. R. Tolkien for “The Lord of the Rings” series. It was later turned into a movie franchise by director Peter Jackson.
