The iPhone might not be the only device Apple is set to oversize. Rumors indicate that the Cupertino-based tech firm is developing an "iPad Pro" that will come equipped with a 12.2-inch display.
A new report by Mac Otakara via MacRumors indicate that the device will end up being smaller than the 12.9-inch size reported earlier. Additionally, the site claims that per its sources, there will be dual stereos on the tablet, one at the top and another at the bottom edge.
"Product design concept seems to be based on iPad Air 2, pair of speakers and microphones will be added on top-side not only bottom's pair. iPad Pro might be capable for supporting stereo audio."
Trusted Reviews wrote on the sound system of the device: "the iPad Pro could echo the Nexus 9 in rocking front-facing stereo speakers. A reworked, MacBook-inspired iSight camera and relocated TouchID sensor could also feature."
More than the display and the audio system, the iPad Pro is said to be quite thin, although not as thin as the iPad Air. It will come in at about 7 mm, similar to the thickness of the iPhone 6 (6.9 mm) and iPhone 6 Plus (7.1 mm). Here is a photo comparing three types of iPad tablets to show just how much bigger the said Pro version will be.
There is no word on when the iPad Pro will debut on shelves but it's believed that the tablet will be made available sometime in the first semester of 2015. The date is said to have been pushed back to give the company more time to focus on meeting the overwhelming clamor of the iPhone 6 Plus.
Apple has refused to comment on the rumored device but according to CNet, releasing a larger iPad would make sense for the tech giant.
"Apple already has an initiative focused on education and getting more tablets into schools, and the company also partnered with IBM to spur the development of enterprise apps. Rather than go with a less expensive product like the iPad Mini, an iPad Pro could make for a more profitable high-end model," noted the site.
This major change in the iPad line up could be the spark that Apple needs to ignite a steady decline in iPad sales in the last three quarters.
What do you think of the iPad Pro? Would you prefer this to the other iPad options available?
