Rumors: 'Dynasty Warriors 9' Likely to Be Koei Tecmo's 'Big Announcement' Later This Year

To the disappointment of many hopeful fans, no news about "Dynasty Warriors" came from the developer Koei Tecmo.

According to GameSpot, because "Dynasty Warriors" was celebrating its 15th anniversary last year, many thought that its developer was going to deliver some big and exciting news. Now Koei Tecmo has apologized for not having done so and promises to deliver the news sometime this year.

According to a translation by Gematsu, Producer Akihiro Suzuki at Koei Tecmo has said in a statement, "Last year, we welcomed the fifteenth anniversary of the Dynasty Warriors series, and we were not able to deliver the news fans were expecting. For that, we are very sorry."

Amid the disappointment, Suzuki reportedly added excitedly, "This year, we're preparing to be able to make a big announcement, so please look forward to it."

So what could this big announcement be? According to Push, the announcement could most likely be none other than the next "Dynasty Warriors" installment. The last main "Dynasty Warrior" title released was "Dynasty Warriors 8" that came out in 2013. It was then followed by its expanded versions "Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Compete Edition" on PlayStation 4 and "Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires."

Many fans have been expecting for a "Dynasty Warriors 9" for some time now and most of them thought that it would be announced as the company celebrates its anniversary of the series.

For those who are not familiar with "Dynasty Warriors," it is a series of fighting games known for its hack and slash gameplay, various game modes and choices of weapons. The first game in the series was launched in 1997 for the PlayStation console. The latest release is "Dynasty Warriors 8," which is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms.
