'The Meredith Vieira' Show Cancelled Just After 2 Seasons; Poor Ratings To Blame?

The fans and viewers of "The Meredith Vieira Show" will soon bid farewell to NBC's daytime talk show for this will be its last season. According to E! Online, the show hosted by Meredith Vieira will no longer continue after its continuous poor ratings.

When the show started in 2014, it was widely accepted and even got good ratings. But eventually, its ratings declined and that played a huge factor for its cancellation. According to The Variety, "Meredith Vieira" show's average viewers in this season is around 1.1 million which is a 25 percent decline from the previous year.

Vieira issued an official statement to E! which states, "I am so sorry to see our show come to an end after this season, but I am also incredibly proud of the work our staff has done and forever grateful to our supportive viewers."

She added, "We promise to spend our final weeks producing the best broadcast we know how. And have a blast doing so!"

According to The Inquisitr, "The Meredith Vieira Show" Season 2 experienced a bit of a shakeup. In the first season, Meredith was the one who manned the show. But then it was changed in Season 2. In the second season the show's producer started a different format and that is through a "coffee talk" table, similar to "The View." Vieira was an original co-host of "The View" that is why they think that the new format will also work on her own show. However, the new approach was not well received by the viewers since it was reportedly a bit crowded.

Meanwhile, Vieira's followers will still see more of her on television as she will help NBC cover the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this year. Vieira will finish the production of the current season of her TV show before she leaves for Rio.
