A 1960s Glass House is For Sale at Studio City

For those people who find living in a glass house cool, then now is your time.

As reported by Curbed Los Angeles, a glass house built in 1964 is up for grabs with a price tag of $2.895 million, but it’s worth every penny. The land rests at 12,533 square feet while the house is at 3,886 square feet. You will never run out of space with this one.

According to the owner, Albert Grossman, the house is "for people who hate to paint." "All I do is wash the windows," said Grossman. That is probably true because the house is completely made of glass, aluminum, and steel. The owners gave the house their own nicknames, “Grossman Residence” and “El Paradiso." The house is also a landmark, a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, awarded back in 1997.

The property will immediately transport you back in the glory days of the 1960s with its hippie design, commemorating the flower power era.

There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms in the house. The master’s bedroom alone gets to have the view of the backyard containing the swimming pool from the glass walls.

The house itself is very spacious and is decorated with colorful designs. The walkway, garden, and pool are surrounded by perforated aluminum walls.

The house was built by Raphael Soriano, a mid-century architect. This property was said to be the last project of Soriano that was occupied by the commissioning party. According to its listing page, Soriano is a recipient of the National American Institute of Architects Award for Design and the VII International Pan American Congress Award, as well as was a protégé of Richard Neutra, in addition to being an intern for Rudolph Schindler. These people are very notable in architectural design. A newspaper article dated December 1996, said that Soriano made an innovative decision to use aluminum and glass to make the house, instead of the usual wood, plaster, and stucco.
