Kanye West Auditions on 'American Idol,' Sings 'Gold Digger'

Kanye West has definitely made himself a household name. Which is why it's pretty surreal to watch the "808s & Heartbreak" rapper introduce himself when he auditioned for "American Idol" in front of Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr.

It's pretty obvious that Yeezy was just doing it for kicks - and it seems as though Urban, Lopez, and Connick Jr. didn't mind playing along!

"So, tell us your name, where you're from," asked Urban.

"My name is Kanye, and I'm from the South Side of Chicago," West said, introducing himself nervously. "I always wanted to rap, but nobody really believes in me, so I wanted to try some things out."

Before announcing the song he wanted to perform, Kanye said he "wanted to do something original" but warned that it had "one of the judge's names in it."

Meanwhile, outside the judges' doors was a pregnant Kim Kardashian awaiting the results of her husband's audition. Ryan Seacrest also played along with the surprise, even asking Kim if she was nervous for West.

"I'm not nervous 'cause I do really believe in him," Kardashian said. "I didn't give any advice on singing, rapping. I just - I hope they really believe in him."

West then started busting out an a cappella version of "Gold Digger," off his 2005 album, "Late Registration." Jennifer Lopez was definitely dancing in her seat and even sang along when West rapped her name!

West was definitely able to pull off surprising the "American Idol" judges in October. According to E! News, West just happened to be in the area during the show's San Francisco leg and decided to audition.

"We were in San Francisco, and they said, 'We've got a contestant that's just going to jump into the line,'" Seacrest revealed. "And up walked Kim and Kanye - Kim pregnant and Kanye enthusiastic and ready to go in there. He walks in there and does a lyrics about J.Lo from one of his songs."

"American Idol" premieres on Fox on Wednesday, January 6 at 8PM.
