Bob Dylan's 'Desire' Album Turns 40; Collaborators Made a Recollection of His 'Exotic' Masterpiece

Recollection of Bob Dylan's 'Desire' album is to be celebrated as it turns 40 years old.

On one of Rolling Stone's recent article has made a recollection of artist and collaborators who worked with Dylan on the said album.

The year was 1976 and during that time, Emmylou Harris recalls, that her session with Bob Dylan one fine day at the record studio was like a paint thrown on canvas. Dylan knew what he was doing when Harris though that she could just make a fix of something she tough was just a practice, but Dylan said that there would be no second take for what was done.   

Dylan is describe to be thriving on chaos and chance when he made his 'Desire' album. He even invited Jacque Levy to write a song with him titled 'Isis.' Some of the songs in the album features a gangster 'Joey. 'To Dylan, "Joey is a good song, but he thinks it was overshadowed by another song 'Hurricane' which was about Hurricane the boxer.

There are also songs with a gypsy atmosphere to it. Songs like 'Durango' and 'One More Cup of Coffee,' and the songs that was inspired of the time When Dylan went to the South of France to attend a gypsy festival. "Exotic is a good word for it," Levy recalls. 'Sara' is one song very personal to Dylan. It is directed towards his ex-wife Sara Lownds, begging her to return to him. Lownds was even present during the time of the recording of the song for her.

At one point, Dylan filled the studio with musicians like Eric Clapton and Dave Mason. There are also non-artist friends invited while the recording of the album was on going, with lots of food. It made the studio look like a party. Soon after the place was cleared, that was when the core group made cuts on the album, for two nights.

Fans made rave reviews about the technicality of the said album. Even his millennial fans also made mention of the songs they loved and gave praises to the artistry that Bob Dylan incorporated to make such a masterpiece of an album like 'Desire.'
